Penn's Own® Pennsylvania Dutch Cheddar Chowder
Ingredients:
- 4-6 Penn's Own® Dutch Golden Butter Potatoes, diced into 1" cubes (approximately 2 cups)
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 cup diced carrots
- 1/2 cup diced celery
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 cup diced cooked ham
- White sauce (1/4 cup butter, 1/4 cup flour, 2 cups milk, 2 cups grated cheddar cheese)
Directions
Prepare Vegetables
- Add water, potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, salt and pepper in a pot and bring to a boil
- Let boil for 10-12 minutes
Prepare White Sauce
- Melt butter in a pot and whisk in flour to make a roux
- Gradually whisk in milk, heating until it is bubbly and thickened, stirring constantly
- Remove from heat and add cheese, stirring until it is melted and thoroughly blended
Prepare Chowder
- Add white sauce and diced ham to vegetable mixture, stir gently and heat through
